Since then Hughie has trained Champion Sprinters in SAKHEE’S SECRET and PASTORAL PURSUITS
He’s had top stayers such as ALCAZAR, MARMELO and QUICKTHORN
As well as a number of top National Hunt performers with the likes of NOT SO SLEEPY, THIRD WIND, FRENCHMAN’S CREEK and MARBLE ARCH all having spent their days under Hughie’s care.
Some of his greatest training feats include winning the July Cup twice, the Goodwood Cup, training the oldest ever Group One Winner in the UK, Ireland and France in ALCAZAR, and landing a Grade 1 over hurdles with NOT SO SLEEPY in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle and then repeating that at Sandown.
The international stage has also been something that Hughie has proven an adeptness for, with Group winners including ALCAZAR, TELECASTER, NEARLY CAUGHT, MARMELO and ONE FOR BOBBY all registering European Group successes for the team.
